  • In the U.S., it is estimated that there are about 30 million children and teens participating in organized sports.

  • Of these participants more than 3.5 million injuries occur each year, with some loss of time of participation experienced by the participants.

  • Almost 1/3 of all injuries incurred in childhood are sports-related injuries.
